The Ministry of Health, under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Firas Al-Hawari, officially launched the 2nd phase of the Healthy Lifestyles Awareness Campaign. Funded by the EU Reayah Project and implemented by AECID Jordan, this initiative is all about making informed choices for a healthier future.
The launch of this campaign comes as a continuation of phase 1 efforts to enhance the awareness of the local community about the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles that include proper nutrition, regular physical activity, and abstaining from smoking and quitting it.
The Minister of Health pointed out the importance of what was achieved during the first phase of the campaign and its impact on the level of health awareness through the high reach of the campaign’s health messages that were disseminated through the Ministry of Health’s social media, television and radio channels, and websites, and through its organization of community events to achieve optimal access to all segments of the local community.
Dr. Al-Hawari praised the role of the effective partnership between the Ministry of Health, the European Union, and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development, and called on all cadres working within the Primary Health Care Department to exert maximum efforts to achieve the priorities of the primary health care axes that were adopted by the Ministry of Health within the Ministry of Health’s strategic plan for the years 2023-2025.
For her part, Mary Horvers, Team Leader for Governance and Human Development at the Delegation of the European Union to Jordan, stressed the EU’s firm belief that preventive healthcare is a more cost-effective investment in the health system. “Healthy lifestyles are a key element in preventing and controlling non-communicable diseases, and improving the health of Jordanians and refugees residing in Jordan,” said Horvers.
