The 7th Meeting of the UfM Task Force on Environment will be held from 15 to 16 November 2023 in Brussels, Belgium. This gathering is significant in the context of the 2nd UfM Ministerial Declaration on Environment and Climate Change, adopted in 2021, which aims to propel the Mediterranean region towards a green, circular, and inclusive economy.
The declaration addresses critical environmental issues and aligns with international conventions and sustainable development goals. At a more operational level, the meeting will focus on the 2030 GreenerMed Agenda, endorsed as a regional framework, and its three key priority axes: supporting the transition to a sustainable economy, reducing pollution, and preserving natural resources.
Participants will engage in discussions relevant to upcoming COPs, such as climate, biodiversity, and desertification, exchanging insights and exploring ways to enhance environmental progress in the region. Attendees, including members of the UfM Task Force on Environment and stakeholders from the wider Environment Community, will also collaborate on promoting circular economy practices. The meeting is expected to yield increased awareness, progress in GreenerMed Agenda implementation, and discussions on joint activities to advance sustainability in the Mediterranean region.
