On June 4, 2025, the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Delegation of the European Union to Morocco inaugurated the Media Box, a television studio designed to enhance the transparency of parliamentary proceedings and bring the institution closer to citizens. Funded by the European Union as part of the Parliamentary Support program, this project illustrates the strength of the Morocco-EU partnership in strengthening democratic institutions.
This ceremony, attended by Mr. Rachid Talbi El Alami, President of the House, and Ms. Patricia Llombart Cussac, Ambassador of the European Union to Morocco, highlighted concrete progress: strengthening parliamentary capacity, enhanced oversight of government action, and improved interaction with citizens and the media. Ms. Llombart emphasized the importance of women’s and youth participation in political life, while emphasizing the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy in the Euro-Mediterranean dialogue.
Closing in December 2024, the program has trained parliamentarians, provided tools for public policy evaluation, created participatory digital platforms, and strengthened the openness of parliament. Since 2011, the Moroccan Parliament has enjoyed Partner for Democracy status with the Council of Europe, supported by twinning arrangements with seven EU member states, including France, Belgium, and the Czech Republic, with the support of Greece, Hungary, Portugal, and Italy.
