Circular Electronics Policy Development Workshop held in Egypt by ERI, Chatham House, and UNIDO

The Electronics Research Institute – ERI, The Royal Institute of  International Affairs – Chatham House and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization – UNIDO organized the workshop “Circular Electronics Policy Development in Egypt” in Cairo on February 10, 2025. The event, which was held as part of the global SWITCH to Circular Economy Value Chains (SWITCH2CE) project,  co-funded by the European Union and Finland, brought together experts, officials and decision-makers discussing strategies and policies needed to support sustainability and the circular economy in the electronics sector.

 

The workshop heard from keynote speakers: Prof. Dr. Sherine Abd  El-Kader, President of the Electronics Research Institute and Chairman of the Science and Technology Park for Electronics  Research and Industry; Dr Patrick Schröder, Senior Research Fellow at Chatham House; Senator Martha Mahrous, Deputy Chair of the ICT Committee at the  Egyptian Parliament; Dr Amr Soliman, representing Senator Tarek Nosseir,  Deputy Chair of the Defense and National Security Committee in the Senate, Vice President of the Arab Parliament and  Deputy Chair of the Senate’s National Security and Defense Committee; and Dr Emad Abd  Elhamid, Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry for Development Projects and Financial Affairs.
