EU Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi is travelling to Malta on 3 May 2023 to discuss cooperation with the Southern Neighbourhood, the implementation of the EU’s Economic and Investment Plans, the external dimension of energy and migration and other topical cooperation issues within the Mediterranean Basin with the Maltese Government.
The meetings will focus on the EU’s assistance and cooperation with the Middle East and North Africa region, in particular with Libya and Tunisia, and on the external aspects of migration.
Discussions with the Maltese government will also touch upon energy security and the diversification of the energy supply of the EU through cooperation with partner countries in the EU’s immediate neighbourhood, including Azerbaijan, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia through the EU’s Economic and Investment Plans.
