In the framework of the EU’s cultural cooperation with Egypt, 11 talented artists including musicians and performing bands have been selected from 80 applicants, within the EU-funded Retune’s Music Academy programme, in order to give concerts around Egypt.

The selection was conducted after intensive training for musicians and independent music operators. The Academy is co-funded by the EU and aims to support aspiring artists and to promote the diversity of artistic expressions in the Egyptian music industry. The EU has allocated an estimated €300,000 for this project, 80% of the project’s total cost.

The first concert will take place on 20 December at the Greek Campus of the American University in Cairo in downtown Cairo. Two other concerts are scheduled to be held in the Al–Menia and Asyut governorates on 22 and 23 December respectively. Artists had the opportunity to record at least one track. Their compiled CD will be launched at the upcoming concerts.(EU Neighbourhood Info
