The Ambassador of the European Union to Jordan, Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, attended two key Erasmus+ events, reaffirming the strong partnership between the European Union and Jordan in higher education and digital transformation.

At Yarmouk University, Ambassador Chatzisavas participated in the closing ceremony of the Erasmus+ project “Development of Virtual Laboratories for Teaching Engineering Students”, with a total EU contribution of EUR 800,000. Led by Yarmouk University, the project brought together 15 partner universities from Germany, Spain, Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan, and Tanzania, benefiting more than 8,000 students. The initiative stands as a strong example of Jordan’s leadership in advancing digital learning and innovation in engineering education.

Later in the day, the Ambassador took part in the Erasmus+ Information Day for the Northern Region hosted by the Jordan University of Science and Technology, which brought together academics, students, and university representatives to learn more about opportunities for international cooperation and mobility. Erasmus+ remains a success story in Jordan, building even closer ties between Jordanians and Europeans. Every year, over 700 Jordanian students and staff benefit from Erasmus+ mobility opportunities to the EU, while Jordanian universities actively engage in capacity-building projects in higher education, technical and vocational training, and youth.

The Erasmus+ Call for Proposals 2026 will be published in mid-November, offering new opportunities for cooperation, exchange, and innovation.
