On the occasion of Ramadan, Ambassador Ivan Surkoš hosted at the EU residence in Cairo an Iftar event for journalists and media professionals. The Ambassador welcomed the attendees, saying that the work they are doing is not easy as well as stressing that free media and informed citizens are basis for modern democratic state. He also spoke about the various aspects of the strategic relations between the EU and Egypt and mentioned some of the EU-funded projects in different areas such as water, energy, education, research and innovation and empowerment of women. The Ambassador concluded his speech by cheering for the African Cup of Nations coming up and wishing the Pharaohs team success.
