EU and Egypt engage in high-level dialogue on regional peace and security at the Aswan Forum

The European Union reaffirmed its strong engagement with Egypt on regional issues during the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, held on 19 and 20 October under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The EU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, the EU Special Representative for the Sahel, João Cravinho, and the Ambassador of the European Union to Egypt, Angelina Eichhorst, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdel Atty, for substantive discussions on regional developments. The exchange focused on shared priorities aimed at advancing stability, peace and prosperity across the African continent.

The Aswan Forum, initiated by Egypt, serves as a strategic platform connecting peace, security and development, and supports African-led solutions to the continent’s most pressing challenges. The participation of the European Union reflects the EU’s commitment to working closely with Egypt and regional partners to promote dialogue, strengthen resilience and foster sustainable peace in Africa.
