EU and Egypt strengthen cooperation in education and research

On 8 October, the Ambassador of the European Union to Egypt, Angelina Eichhorst, was warmly received at the British University in Egypt (BUE) by Prof. Mohamed Loutfi, President of BUE, Ambassador Mahmoud Karem, University Advisor for Foreign Affairs, along with several deans and students. During the visit, Ambassador Eichhorst met with the university leadership to discuss ongoing EU–Egypt cooperation programmes in education and research, including Horizon Europe, PRIMA, and Erasmus+. The discussions focused on how these initiatives continue to foster innovation, research excellence, and academic mobility between Egyptian and European institutions.

Addressing students, Ambassador Eichhorst spoke about the EU–Egypt partnership in scientific research and higher education, highlighting the wide range of opportunities available for young Egyptians to engage in exchange, innovation, and knowledge-sharing. The session concluded with an open and dynamic Q&A, reflecting the strong enthusiasm of students for future collaboration and shared academic growth. The visit reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s educational and research landscape as a foundation for sustainable development and mutual understanding.
