The EU and the Egyptian Foundation for Refugee Rights (EFRR) have cooperated to organise the EFRR’s annual conference under the title National Mechanisms for the Protection of refugees and migrants, on Sunday 16 October in Cairo. This conference also closes and takes stock of the project “Expanding Legal Advocacy for Refugees in Egypt” implemented by EFRR and funded by the EU over the last three years.

The conference sought to move the debate forward on developing processes that help governments and organisations adopt national mechanisms to address the necessary needs of refugees and migrants in the light of the rise of the migration crisis.

The EFRR plans to form a committee to follow up the implementation of the recommendations and outputs of the conference, which will be sent to the concerned authorities, including international organizations and governmental institutions, as well as embassies and local organizations.(EU Neighbourhood Info)
