The EU Delegation in Egypt organised the first workshop within the framework of the Support to the Modernization of the Administration of Justice (SMAJ) project funded by the EU, gathering 98 judges of the Egyptian Court of Cassation (CoC) to address the issue of the unification of its jurisprudences and law interpretation.

The Modernisation of the Administration of Justice (SMAJ) project aims at supporting the Egyptian Ministry of Justice and institutional bodies in charge of dispensing justice in reforming and modernising their own internal processes, with a view to reduce case backlog and increasing the quality of justice rendered to the public. The EU has allocated EUR 9 million for this project.  (EU Neighbourhood Info)
