EU supports Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) Free Campuses project in Egypt

Funded by the European Union, Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) Free Campuses is a gender programme under the British Council Society and Education Programmes to address (VAWG) and support Anti-Harassment and VAW Unit, Cairo University in its mission to provide safe university environment to university community.

It consists on establishing a system for the community (students and staff) to report the cases and develop the capacity of the university staff to deal with the sexual harassment and change their perception towards VAWG.

VAWG Free campuses project is a joint project between VAW Unit and British Council Egypt. The project is funded by the EU under the Women Empowerment Programme ‘Increase Women Participation in Public Life’ with financial contribution from the British Council and in-kind contribution from Cairo University. 

The project is a 36 months’ project aiming at supporting Cairo University ambitious vision of creating a safe university and free from violence environment for the university community.
