EUPOL COPPS supported the participation of judges and legal personnel of the Technical Office of the Palestinian High Judicial Council and the Palestinian Official Gazette Bureau in a 4-day training course on this very topic, organised by the Jordanian Judicial Institute, on 16-19 December, in Amman, Jordan. The Director General of the Jordanian Judicial Institute, Dr. Nashat Alakhras, opened the event. The training was intended to improve skills including on law drafting, reducing shortcomings, deficiencies, or legislative conflicts, applying professional legislative drafting methodologies in accordance with best practices and stages of formulating/drafting legal principles.
On the last day the training was particularly hands on and conducted in the Technical Office of the Cassation Court of Amman, where the trainees received a presentation on the Technical Office judges of the High Judicial Council of Jordan, its competences, roles and responsibilities. In addition, the trainees were exposed to practical models of Judicial decisions and final verdicts and how such decisions are read, analysed and classified. In addition, the trainees learned how the legal principles from Court decisions are extracted and how the legal principles are drafted.
