As cyber threats become more complex, the need for advanced technology to combat cybercriminals is more critical than ever. Thus, classic policing methods alone cannot keep pace with modern cybercrime.

In response to such threats, members of the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) IT Department completed an intensive three-day training on Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) on 20 May in Ramallah.

The OSINT training is part of a broader effort to modernise the PCP’s digital capabilities and to foster greater resilience against cybercrime and online threats.

By strengthening the skills of IT officers, the PCP is better positioned to conduct investigations and respond effectively to both local and cross-border challenges.

The training is also aimed at enhancing the officers’ ability to collect, analyse, and act upon publicly available information. It allows investigators to uncover crucial information from online platforms, social media, public databases, and other open sources — often in real-time.
