A report on ‘Youth work in Lebanon and Cultural Identities: Diversity of Communities: Richness or…?” has been published by the EU-funded Euromed Youth project. The report is the result of a study visit held in Lebanon in June. It is the sixth in a collection in several languages called “Youth Work in…” composed of publications dedicated to youth work in the European Neighbourhood South countries (Tunisia, Israel, Jordan, Palestine and Morocco) that hosted actions in 2013-14.

The report provides:
  • an overview about youth work in Lebanon;
  • an educational and pedagogical background of youth work in Lebanon;
  • statistics situation about youth in Lebanon and the overall reflection about youth work with a specific focus on youth engagement related to religious or political affiliations;
  • some challenges of youth workers for developing projects facing the topic at local level;
  • some examples of youth projects and best practices.
The collection aims to support cooperation within the EuroMed area by providing a depth reflection about current issues and challenges in youth work in the region.

The EU funds the regional programme EuroMed Youth IV during the period 2010-2013 with a budget of €5 million. The programme aims at stimulating and encouraging mutual comprehension among youth in the Euro-Mediterranean region, fighting stereotypes and prejudices and enhancing the sense of solidarity among youth by promoting active citizenship. It also seeks to contribute to the development of youth policies in the Mediterranean Partner Countries. The programme promotes the mobility of young people and the understanding between peoples.
