Head of EU Coordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support meets Palestinian Prime Minister

The Head of the European Union Co-ordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support (EUPOL COPPS), Mr. Kauko Aaltomaa  met H.E. DR. Mohammad Shtayyeh, Prime Minister of the Palestinian National Authority on 18 June in Ramallah.

Mr. Aaltomaa outlined the fundamental role of the Mission and briefed the Prime Minister on the activities currently conducted by the Mission in support of the Palestinian institutions and population.

Prime Minister Shtayyeh and Mr. Aaltomaa reviewed the work accomplished in the security and justice sectors. Based on their assessment of what has been achieved, they exchanged views on possible ways to improve the efficiency of those two key sectors for the future of the Palestinian society.

EUPOL COPPS is the European Union Co-ordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support. The aim of the Mission is to contribute to the establishment of sustainable and effective policing arrangements and to advise Palestinian counterparts on criminal justice and rule of law related aspects under Palestinian ownership.
