Seventy Syrian refugee women and vulnerable Jordanian women graduated from an intensive hospitality training programme enhancing their access to the labour market. The training was delivered at the Ammon Applied University College of Hospitality and Tourism Education and provided through a consortium led by EuroMed Feminist Initiative, thanks to the support of the European Union’s Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis, the EU “MADAD” Fund.

The ceremony gathered graduates from the three areas, Jerash, Ajloun and East Amman, who have completed the intensive technical training in “Profession of Producing, Preparing and Serving Food and Sweets and Hospitality Skills.” The event was an important opportunity for them to share their experience and the impact of the project on their job prospects.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the European Union Delegation to Jordan, European Union Trust Fund manager, the EuroMed Feminist Initiative team, the President and CEO of Business Development Center, as well as management and faculty members of Ammon Applied University College of Hospitality and Tourism Education.

Since its establishment in December 2014, a significant share of the EU’s non-humanitarian aid for Syria’s neighbouring countries is provided through the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis. The Trust Fund brings a more coherent and integrated EU aid response to the crisis and primarily addresses longer term economic, educational, protection and social needs of Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries such as Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq, and supports overstretched local communities and their administrations. To date, the Trust Fund has committed 334 million euros to Jordan.
