Over the next decade, up to 60 million young people in Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries are expected to join the workforce in the labour market. Vocational education and training systems are not well equipped to deal with the transition, ETF analysis shows.

That’s why the ETF designed GEMM (Governance for Employability in the Mediterranean), an EU-funded programme linking vocational education governance with graduate employment outcomes. Nine pilot projects have been set up through, including one in Zarqa, Jordan, launched in 2015 (Watch the video of this project here).

The European Training Foundation is an agency of the European Union established to contribute to the development of the education and training systems of the EU partner countries.
