Tunis, February 26, 2025 – In a warm and stimulating atmosphere, EU Neighbours South brought together around 20 journalism students, professors and EU representatives to discuss one of Tunisia’s most pressing challenges: water security. The event, which took place at L’héredium, was part of the Media Connect Talks, a series designed to foster dialogue between EU delegations, young journalists and experts to promote informed journalism.
Under the theme “Drop by drop, the planet is drying up: What to do?”, discussions focused on EU-funded solutions to water scarcity, in particular through the IPDLI (Pilot Initiative for Integrated Local Development). The impact of the project was illustrated by the example of Saida Zouaoui, a direct beneficiary, who showed how EU support leads to tangible improvements in local communities.
The event included exchanges with EU representatives, who provided insights into the common challenges in the area of water and the role of cooperation in overcoming these challenges. The highly engaged and inquisitive students asked thoughtful questions. In a convivial and dynamic atmosphere, the Media Talk underlined the importance of involving young people in the discussion on water security and sustainable solutions for the country’s future.
