The European Union and the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills (MIEPEEC), in partnership with the International Labor Organization (ILO), organized a national workshop on mobility and skills in the tourism (hotel and restaurant) sector on October 7 and 8, 2025, through the THAMM Plus project.
The Morocco-European Union Talent Partnership seeks to develop safe, fair, and sustainable pathways for professional mobility. Within this framework, this workshop aimed to identify and validate skills needs in key professions in the hotel and restaurant industries. It also aimed to strengthen the alignment of training systems and the recognition of qualifications between Morocco and the European Union, and to develop concrete solutions to promote fair, secure, and sustainable professional mobility.
The co-construction of a joint roadmap that can meet the needs of the tourism sector and the expectations of both sides of the Mediterranean is also on the agenda. This meeting brought together nearly 60 participants in Rabat: Moroccan and European public institutions, regions, social partners, professional federations and organizations, employers, training organizations, embassies, and international cooperation agencies.
The workshop also included a tour of the educational spaces of the tourism and hospitality center of the City of Trades and Skills in Rabat-Tamesna. This visit provided an opportunity to illustrate the quality of Moroccan vocational training, highlighting the curricula and training offered by the Office of Vocational Training and the Promotion of Work in the tourism sector as well as the practical know-how of students and trainees.
