Against the background of unprecedented challenges affecting the middle eastern region, the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) work continues and so does EUPOL COPPS’s support at their side. Within this context, the Mission handed over visibility material to PCP Family Juvenile Protection Department (FJPD) officers working on an awareness campaign on domestic violence and cybercrime scheduled to start on 29 June. The handover of materials, including posters, pens, rulers, silicon bracelets, banners, posters, and water bottles, designed to inform the public, promote available support services, encourage reporting, and empower victims to seek help, contributing to a safer digital environment, took place on 19 June, in Ramallah.

This was important since at times of heightened conflict human rights violations occurred most, and this is the case everywhere. Worldwide, many children and women are subjected to threats, violence, and abuse in online spaces. The rationale for this action is that despite the existence of support services to prevent online violence in Palestine, a lack of awareness prevents many from seeking help, increasing potential victims’ vulnerability. This initiative focuses on strengthening police officers’ capacity to handle cyber-related crimes, primarily during the first responding phase.
