Stefano Sannino, EU Commission Director-General for the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf, and Angelina Eichhorst, the EU Ambassador to Egypt, visited the City of the Dead at the heart of Historic Cairo. The City of the Dead is home to centuries-old Mamluk-era monuments, an integral part of Egypt’s cultural heritage. Through the EU-Egypt cooperation, key monuments are being restored to preserve history, support local communities, and promote cultural tourism. This visit reflects the EU-Egypt partnership in protecting cultural heritage and promoting sustainable development.
