Syria: the EIB calls for an ambitious response to the refugee crises

Today, at the Supporting Syria & the Region London 2016 Conference, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced its intention to support international efforts in Turkey, the Middle East and North African countries affected by the refugee crisis. “We need to do more to help them”, said the President of the Bank, Werner Hoyer. The Bank will lay out how its activities could be increased in partnership with donors. 
 
The EIB, whose shareholders are the 28 governments of the EU, is the largest international financial institution active in the Mediterranean and the Middle East region.
