The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to the African Union and the African Union Commission (AUC) invite young photographers to participate in the “#AUEU25 Through Our Lens” Photography Competition, part of the year-long celebration marking 25 years of the AU–EU Partnership. The anniversary will culminate with the 7th AU–EU Summit in Luanda, Angola, on 24–25 November 2025. The competition celebrates a quarter century of achievements that have strengthened cooperation between Africa and Europe — from sustainable economic development and education to innovation, climate action and energy transition. Participants are invited to capture, through their unique perspective, visual stories that reflect the partnership’s tangible impact on lives across both continents.
The deadline for submissions has been extended to 12 November 2025. Photographers must be 30 years old or younger and may submit up to three entries in English or French. Two winners — one African and one European — will each receive a €500 prize and a fully funded trip to Addis Ababa for the award ceremony, planned for early December 2025. Twenty-five finalists will be featured in exhibitions in Addis Ababa (and possibly Brussels), with their works promoted across AU and EU communication platforms.
