On 16 February 2023, the first National Migration Information System in Tunisia, MIGRADATA, was launched in the framework of the EU-funded project ProGreS II – “Migration Governance” component, implemented by ICMPD Tunisia and led by the National Observatory for Migration (ONM).

This tool brings a new perspective for the modernisation of knowledge sharing and management and will allow for a better evidence-based governance on migration. This communication event also marks the first anniversary of the Tunisia-HIMS survey, the first national survey on international migration, conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and the ONM, with the support of ICMPD.

On this occasion, experts and researchers presented the progress achieved with results collected since the launch of the survey. The committee merged both academic and professional worlds, with the aim of professionalising this type of researches – an innovative initiative launched by the ONM.

The overall objective of ProGreS II and its four components is to contribute to a safe migration, risk-free, legal and orderly in Tunisia and to contribute to a right-based migration management.
