The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean and the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNi) have established a cooperation framework for the upcoming three years through the signature of a memorandum of understanding aimed at continuing to work together in accordance to the mission and objectives of both institutions. This comes in the wake of the collaboration initiated on occasion of the GUNi International Conference on Sustainable Development Goals: Actors and Implementation, held in September 2017.

The signature of this agreement, which covers all UfM areas of activity which are of interest for GUNi, will be followed by the implementation of the joint action plan agreed for the year 2018, which will develop and strengthen bilateral cooperation concerning areas of common interest, notably in the fields of Higher Education, research and innovation, youth employability, entrepreneurship, women empowerment and gender equality, among others.

GUNi is a network currently composed of over 210 members from 78 countries, which includes the UNESCO Chairs in Higher Education, higher education institutions, research centers and networks related to innovation and the social commitment of higher education. GUNi works to promote innovation in higher education policies and systems worldwide sharing UNESCO’s principles and values.
