Following up to the ARLEM report on “Youth entrepreneurship in the Mediterranean” adopted in February 2019, the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) shall award a successful young entrepreneur from the South Mediterranean partner countries (Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia and Turkey) and the local authority which helped her/his activity at its plenary session on 23 January 2020. The ARLEM award aims to inspire both potential entrepreneurs and local and regional authorities as well as to contribute to a positive narrative. This is its second edition (#ARLEMaward).

Applications by entrepreneurs up to 35 years of age can be submitted until 31 October 2019. The winning enterprise and local or regional authority will be announced at the 11th ARLEM Plenary session on 23 January 2020.

The Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) is an assembly of local and regional representatives from the European Union and its Mediterranean partners.

It was set up in 2010 by the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) together with territorial associations active in this context allowing elected representatives from the three shores of the Mediterranean Sea to:

  • represent their local and regional authorities politically, including towards the EU and the Union for the Mediterranean (Uf​M)
  • maintain political dialogue and
  • promote interregional cooperation.
