A unique opportunity for demonstrator projects addressing the interconnected challenges of Water, Energy, Food, and Ecosystems across the Mediterranean region. The WEFE4MED project, a PRIMA-funded initiative, is inviting Mediterranean demonstrator projects to participate in the WEFE4MED Nexus Award, a prize designed to spotlight practical solutions that address the region’s most pressing sustainability challenges through an integrated approach.
Over the past three years, WEFE4MED has been at the forefront of promoting a Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus-oriented approach to sustainable development in the Mediterranean. The project has successfully built a Nexus Community of Practice (NCoP), bringing together researchers, practitioners, and innovators who recognize that the region’s challenges, from water scarcity to food security, cannot be solved in isolation. At the heart of this community lies a network of demonstration sites scattered across the Mediterranean basin, each showcasing how the WEFE Nexus approach delivers tangible, socio-economically viable solutions to complex, interconnected problems.
The WEFE4MED Nexus Award: your project in the spotlight: As WEFE4MED enters its final year, the consortium is launching this award to celebrate the work of demonstrators who are putting Nexus principles into practice. Whether your project is already part of the WEFE4MED Knowledge Hub or you’re implementing a demonstrator that hasn’t yet been featured, this is your opportunity to gain international recognition.
