Women associations in Morocco welcomes EU ambassador

Mrs Claudia Wiedey, EU ambassador to Morocco, held a series of visits and meetings with women associations, partners of the EU in Tangiers, in the framework of the 2017 campaign to combat violence against girls and women.

The visit targeted 3 initiatives implemented by the civil society and co-funded by the EU in the framework of the EU Support Programme to the Implementation of the government’s plan for equality, which are:

– The project “Support to the promotion of equity and equality between women and men in the region of Tangiers Tetouan Al Hoceima”, of the association “Assaida el Horra”;

– The project “Creation of a women’s legal clinic” of the Foundation CIDEAL – Morocco and the “Union de l’Action Féminine”;

– The project “Mères en ligne: Démarche innovante et intégrante de plaidoyer pour l’amélioration des droits des mères célibataires au Maroc of the association « 100% mamans » in partnership with the italian NGO Soleterre.

The programme of the visit started with a meeting between the 3 partners and Mrs Wiedey. Afterwards, the ambassador visited the women legal clinic, where she listened to women victims of violence, the trainees, the counsellor, the psychologist and the concerned actors of the project. She also visited the project “Mères en ligne” where she took part in the radio programme recording « Mères en ligne ». She met and discussed with the mothers supported by the project “Mères en ligne”.

The associations “100% Mamans” and “Assaida Al Horra” as well as the CIDEAL Foundation and 12 other CSOs in Morocco implement initiatives co-funded by the EU in the framework of the EU Support Programme to the implementation of the Government’s plan to Equality, in partnership with the ministry of family, solidarity, equality and social development and the Social Development Agency.
