The European Union Delegation to Syria, sub-Office Beirut offers the post of Press and Information Officer (Local Agent Group I) in the Delegation’s Political, Press & Information Section. The team consists of seven people and there are typical working hours. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation, and on the changes of these needs. The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Section, providing support, expertise and assistance in the communication field. Following main tasks and duties are currently required: 

  • Analyze the trends and developments in the Syrian information environment and provide recommendations for improving the understanding of the EU’s values, policies and projects based on fact-based information and proactive communication;
  • Establish and maintain a network of key information environment experts on Syria, who could support the EU Delegation in its monitoring and awareness raising activities;
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and coordination, together with the P&I officer, of campaigns, outreach events and communication projects on specific issues and priorities, including with a goal to address disinformation targeting the EU and its policy and/or activities in Syria;
  • Closely cooperate with the EEAS Strategic Communications Task Forces;
  • Perform other tasks as designated by the Head of Section, according to the needs of the Delegation;
  • Replace the other Press and Information Officer in her absence.

The selected candidate will be recruited on a fixed 3-year contract. The base salary will depend on relevant and verified employment experience. The exact salary range will be communicated upon finalizing the recruitment.  There is a competitive benefits package, subject to certain conditions, including personal leave days and public holidays, health insurances and a retirement savings plan.
