CyberSouth+

CyberSouth+ aims to reduce the vulnerability of South Partner Countries against cyber threats.

The project aims at strengthening criminal justice capacities for enhanced cooperation on cybercrime and disclosure of electronic evidence through a combination of regional and country-specific actions that will be tailored to the needs and capacities of each project country.

Objectives

The main object of CyberSouth+ is to improve the prevention and response to cybercrime of State Institutions of the Southern Mediterranean countries, in cooperation with the private sector and in line with the Budapest Convention.

The sub-objectives are:

Increased capacities of the competent authorities to introduce regulatory and technical reforms in the areas of cybercrime, electronic evidence, and criminal justice response.

Improved knowledge and specialisation of criminal justice professionals to prevent and fight cybercrime.

Increased opportunities for international cooperation in the framework of the Budapest Convention and its Second Additional Protocol.

Improved procedures and tools connecting criminal justice authorities and cybersecurity organisations.

Actions in brief

The main activities include:

  • Advice, review, workshops and meetings on cybercrime and electronic evidence legislation
  • Advice and assessment on cybersecurity national strategies and action plans
  • Trainings, workshops, practical/simulation exercises, exchange programmes, conferences, and other events
  • Development of practical guidelines, procedures and templates
  • Development of training courses and curricula to be adopted by the national institutions
  • Set-up of a pool of national and regional experts/trainers
  • Enrolment in specialised training on cybercrime
