In line with the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) and the Aviation Strategy for Europe, this project aims to develop and support Euro-Mediterranean Southern Neighbourhood countries by strengthening institutional links, promoting regulatory harmonization, addressing capacity limitations, and supporting environmental protection and climate change initiatives. The project promotes harmonized policies, standards, and best practices to facilitate the development of a broader Common Aviation Area (CAA).
The overall objective of the project is to support the sustainable development of civil aviation and administrative systems in the beneficiary countries, while assisting them in implementing the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Regional Transport Action Plan (RTAP) 2014-2020, as well as its follow-up plan for 2021-2027 concerning relevant aviation chapters.
The specific objectives of the project are:
To achieve the programme’s main objective, the project has been structured around the following key components:
1. Providing training for both technical and managerial staff of the competent authorities in beneficiary states, to enhance their human and structural capital.
2. Organizing meetings and workshops for aviation authorities, EASA, and both EU and regional aviation industries, aimed at improving networking, fostering communication, and strengthening the social capital of the beneficiaries.
3. Arranging study visits to EU aviation authorities to provide insights into the practical application of EU regulations, which can serve as models for national aviation authorities in the region.
4. Conducting on-site visits to individual countries, addressing unique, specific issues and supporting the development of tailored solutions.
