SOLIFEM is a regional project supporting employability and the transition from the informal to the formal economy through tripartite social dialogue in the Southern Neighbourhood.
SOLIFEM aims to contribute to employability and formalization in the Southern Neighbourhood, by strengthening the capacities of the ILO tripartite constituents to develop, through social dialogue, integrated strategies on formalization, and to promote skills development and recognition systems, with a particular focus on women and youth in the informal economy.
SOLIFEM builds capacities of social partners, contributes to understanding informality through diagnostic studies that help shape preparation of formalization roadmaps. The project also pilots concrete tools to support formalization of small businesses, and explores skills development, vocational training and recognition of prior learning as drivers for employability notably for women and youth.
As a regional project, SOLIFEM fosters dialogue and peer-exchanges on employability and formalization, and contributes to implementing the Union for the Mediterranean Ministerial Declaration on Employment and Labour of 2022.
