To mark Europe Day, celebrated on 9 May every year in Brussels-Belgium, the EU Goodwill Ambassadors from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia were invited to visit the capital and the different European institutions and meet with senior officials of the European Commission. They also had the chance to discover and learn more about the College of Europe in Bruges.
Throughout the visit, they participated in several joint activities with many Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) from the East Neighbourhood and West Balkans countries such as a Cultural Exchange event, the Salam video clip spreading a message of peace to the world, a quiz night and many other events.
At the end of the #InTheirEyes regional campaign, organised between 2019 and 2020 by the European Commission, these young people were awarded the honorary title of European Union Goodwill Ambassadors in their respective countries. Since then, they have been working to promote the opportunities offered by the European Union in the region and to give hope to young people in the Southern Neighbourhood.
