The Delegation of the European Union to Algeria is reiterating its commitment to all those in attendance at the Algiers International Book Fair (SILA) and will be greeting visitors in the central pavilion from 29 October to 10 November at the Palais des expositions. One of the cornerstones of the Fair is the 10th Meeting of Euro-Maghreb Writers which will be held on 3 November from 9am to 3pm.
The Delegation’s programme at the SILA will be rich and varied, featuring meetings with writers, exhibitions and an area reserved especially for discussion and debate. Indeed, thanks to the contributions of EU Member States represented in Algeria, the Delegation’s stand will organise a selection of themed events on different subjects, with a particular focus on young people through debates on issues including “the employability of young people in Algeria”, “the role of young people within local organisations”, “involving young people in community associations” and a whole day (Thursday 1 November) dedicated to the Erasmus student programme. Discussions and debates will also address cultural heritage, the invigoration of urban spaces and start-ups and creative industries in Algeria.
In addition, under the theme “Souvenirs, Souvenirs! The roots of cultural inspiration“, in collaboration with the cultural services of the EU Member States represented in Algeria, the Delegation of the European Union to Algeria is delighted to celebrate the 10th Meeting of Euro-Maghreb Writers, which will bring together European and Maghreb writers to share their views and discuss their relationship with memory and the influence of imagination on their literary works.
