An institutional Twinning project aimed at supporting the modernisation of the prison administration in Algeria has been launched last week. The project, involving Algeria, France and Italy, is part of the EU programme to support the implementation of the Association Agreement – P3A.

The objective of the project, to be implemented over a period of 30 months with a budget of EUR 2 million, is to help improve prison management, strengthen their capacity in terms of inmate rehabilitation and strengthening security.

The project, which mobilises 90 experts, will carry out 240 missions and 5 study tours in both EU Member States (France-Italy). It aims at training a thousand agents of the Directorate General of Prison Administration (DGAPR). (EU Neighbourhood Info)
