Activities included beach and marine clean-ups, recycling workshops, and interactive awareness initiatives, collecting approximately 40 kg of marine debris and over 35,000 cigarette butts, demonstrating strong local participation and environmental responsibility. The event was supported by H.E. Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, the Ambassador of the European Union, and Dr. Nedal Al-Ouran, ASEZA Commissioner for Environment and Public Safety. Their presence highlighted the EU – Jordan commitment to cleaner coasts and stronger communities.
This year’s clean-up coincided with the 35th anniversary of Interreg Cooperation Day, making Aqaba part of a global movement for greener, bluer futures. The campaign wrapped up at Aqaba Castle, emphasising the importance of collective action for environmental protection and reinforcing Aqaba as a model for sustainability and natural resource preservation.
