On 17 January, Clima-Med invited the National Coordination Group (NCG) in Jordan to a one-day workshop to discuss, agree and endorse the role of the NCG, the recommendations proposed in the country’s Climate Action Strategy (CAS), and proposals to set up the national SEACAP Support Mechanism (SSM).
The workshop was opened by the Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of Environment, who expressed his gratitude and admiration for Clima-Med’s enormous efforts to support municipalities and provide them with the technical and administrative support they need to successfully implement sustainable energy and climate action plans.
Participants representing the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Local Authority, and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, in addition to the European Delegation to Jordan, have enthusiastically advanced recommendations on how to consolidate and sustain the role of the National Coordination Group. They have agreed to jointly take necessary steps to support the NCG as a facilitator of NDC’s mainstreaming and to support local climate action through the setup of the planned SEACAP Support Mechanism.
