Conference in Algiers on new investment and nearshoring opportunities by the Delegation of the European Union to Algeria

New investment and nearshoring opportunities in Algeria were the subject of a conference organized this Thursday in Algiers by the Delegation of the European Union to Algeria in collaboration with the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency.

 

The meeting which took place in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Mr. Ali AOUN, and Mr. Michael HAGER, Chief of Staff of the Vice-President of the European Commission, falls within the framework of the cooperation project “Euro-Algerian Partnership for Sustainable Investment”, financed by the EU.

 

This conference was an opportunity to discuss between the different stakeholders, private and public, on the business and investment climate in Algeria, as well as on the opportunities for Euro-Algerian partnerships in terms of investment. It made it possible to make recommendations capable of achieving the objectives set by the EU-Algeria Association Agreement through the intensification of European investments in Algeria in all mutually beneficial areas.

 

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, the EU Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Thomas ECKERT, highlighted “the significant transformation in Algeria in terms of direct investments”, declaring that “the environment of Investment is changing and our goal now is to demonstrate together that more direct investment will be possible.”

 

For his part, Minister of Industry M, Aoun declared that Algeria “aspires to become a link between the African and European continent” and is “determined to build the bridges of cooperation with its historic partner what is the European Union.”
