The EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Mr. Olivér Várhelyi and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, had a telephone interview on Friday 27 March .
The interview focused on the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and the means implemented at national, regional and international levels to deal with it.
In this context, the Commissioner announced that the European Union will support the Moroccan budget by immediately reallocating 150 million euros, specifically dedicated to the needs of the Special Fund for the Management of the Pandid Covid-19 created on the initiative of Her Majesty the King, Mohammed VI. In addition, the Commission will use all possible flexibility to redirect 300 million euros of the funds allocated to Morocco towards the response to the pandemic by accelerating their mobilisation to meet the country’s exceptional budgetary needs.
