The support to the private sector is at the centre of the European Investment Bank’s mobilisation in Morocco, notably through its credit lines with the Moroccan financial institutions for a total outstanding amount of €440 million.

The EIB is ready to further reinforce its support and its expertise to the health sector with the purchase of necessary medical equipment and the reinforcement of health facilities. The objective is to support the implementation of projects which could concretely and rapidly help Moroccans fight against COVID-19 on a daily basis from both an economic and sanitary perspective.

This support comes in the framework of the Team Europe package, an initiative of the European Commission, which aims at helping the non-EU countries deal with the pandemic. The EIB announced yesterday that its contribution will amount to €5.2 billion.

The EIB has been Morocco’s privileged partner for forty years. In 2019, more than €300 million were invested in the implementation of projects in key sectors of the Moroccan economy such as the support to companies, agriculture, water and sanitation, transport and renewable energy.
