The MED-GEM Network, in collaboration with the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC), organized a National Consultation Workshop during the Beirut Energy Week. The workshop aimed to develop a roadmap for Lebanon’s National Hydrogen Strategy, specifically focusing on core actions and assessing activities for the MED-GEM Workplan.

The MED-GEM (Mediterranean Green Electrons and Molecules) project, funded by the European Union, supports the energy transition in Southern Neighborhood countries. It accelerates the deployment of renewable power generation and promotes the production and trade of Power-to-X products, including hydrogen. This event provided an opportunity for MED-GEM experts and guests to share insights and experiences, facilitating discussions on Lebanon’s national hydrogen strategy.

The first session focused on the challenges and opportunities in the energy transition. This introductory session was followed by three parallel brainstorming sessions covering Policy and Regulations, Industry and Infrastructure, and Finance and Investments. Participants engaged in lively discussions, identifying key actions, challenges, potential partners, timelines, and priorities for each thematic area. The event concluded with the presentation of outcomes and key takeaways from the discussion groups, highlighting actionable steps for advancing Lebanon’s national hydrogen strategy
