Women’s Rights Civil Society Organizations, EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI), Appropriate Communication Techniques for Development (ACT), and Edraak Foundation for Development and Equality (EFDE) held a National Policy Dialogue on 18 November in Cairo, Egypt, as part of the Regional Campaign on Zero Tolerance for Violence Against Women and Girls, launched in 2019.
This dialogue brought together decision-makers, ministerial representatives, women’s rights organizations, legal and gender experts, civil society actors, community-based organizations, human rights defenders, academics, researchers, and the media as part of a regional effort to provide a space for Civil Society and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to advocate for and discuss concrete measures to change discriminatory articles identified as major barriers to gender equality, legal protection mechanisms, and national priorities.
The purpose of this discussion is to create a forum for advocating for the actual implementation of the 4th United Nations Ministerial Declaration on preventing and eliminating VAWG and domestic abuse, as well as to increase awareness and commit governments to action.
