In preparation for the EU Election Observation Mission for the presidential and parliamentary elections 2019, Nabil Baffoun, president of the Higher Independent Body for the Elections (ISIE) and Patrice Bergamini, EU Ambassador to Tunisia, signed an administrative arrangement yesterday.

A team of 10 electoral analysts will be based in Tunis starting from 23 August. They will be joined on 2 September by 28 long-term observers who will be deployed throughout the country and 28 short-term observers will reinforce the device during the different election days.

The mandate of the mission is to observe and analyse the whole electoral process in order to conduct an impartial, neutral and objective assessment. At the outcome of the vote, the Mission will present its preliminary conclusions on the electoral process. A detailed analytical report will be published afterwards.
