Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange is launching an open online course on “Cultural encounters: Perspectives on Populism” on 14 October. Throughout its 10-week duration, participants learn with, and from their peers in online sessions, as well as from expert academics and practitioners through an original lecture series.

‘Cultural Encounters: Perspectives on Populism’ gives participants the opportunity to explore the new wave of anti-establishment politics gaining power around the world. Following an often nationalist agenda, policies are reshaping our relationship with neighbouring countries and cultures. These political regimes claim to speak for the people and many feel connected to this form of politics: What is the appeal? What is the impact on democracy?

The course is open and free of charge for young people between the ages of 18 and 30, residing in any of the Erasmus+ programme countries or in the Southern Mediterranean countries. After successful completion of this course, participants are awarded an Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange Badge.

Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange is part of the Erasmus+ programme. It offers a safe online community to participate in facilitated discussions, increasing intercultural awareness and building 21st Century skills through Virtual Exchange. The programme encourages and promotes intercultural dialogue, employability, and citizenship, strengthening the youth dimension of the EU neighbourhood policy.
