Tunisia EU Ambassador celebrates 150 years of Al-Ahram newspaper in Cairo
On 1 October, the Ambassador of the European Union to Egypt, Angelina Eichhorst, paid a visit to the historic headquarters of Al-Ahram newspaper in downtown Cairo to join the celebrations of the daily’s 150th anniversary. During the visit, Ambassador Eichhorst met with Mr. Maguid Mounir, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ahram, who presented her with a symbolic gift: a copy of the very first edition of the newspaper. She highlighted the newspaper’s enduring impact and paid tribute to the journalists who continue to carry forward this legacy. This anniversary not only celebrates the heritage of one of the Arab world’s most prominent newspapers, but also reaffirms the essential role of free and independent media in fostering dialogue, mutual understanding, and democratic development.
