EU Ambassador to Israel Emanuele Giaufret hosted the launching event for the new Cultural Diplomacy Forum (CDF) in Israel, on 18 June, at his residence in Herzliya.
The Cultural Diplomacy Forum, headed by the Simone Veil Research Centre – Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer Sheva, held its first conference on 19 June, bringing local and international experts discussing and conceptualizing cultural diplomacy. The Forum aims to act as a bridge between academia and the policy-making sphere, as well as the public and private sectors, in the cultural diplomacy arena.
Cultural diversity is an integral part of the values of the European Union. The EU is strongly committed to promoting a global order based on peace, the rule of law, freedom of expression, mutual understanding and respect for fundamental rights. Accordingly, promoting diversity through international cultural relations is an important part of the EU’s role as a global actor.
