Mark your calendars for October 9th and 10th, and become part of a global movement to protect our oceans and coastal areas. The EU Beach Clean-Up 2024 is coming to Aqaba, Jordan, and we need passionate individuals like you to help make a difference!

 

Hosted by the Interreg NEXT MED programme, UNDP Jordan, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), and the EU Delegation of Jordan, this year’s theme, “Join The Wave“, encourages communities to unite and take action against marine pollution.

 

Here’s what you can expect:

Day 1: 9th October 2024
• Beach Clean-Up & Dive: Join us at the Aqaba Marine Reserve to remove cigarette butts from the beach and underwater areas. These collected butts will be creatively transformed into arts and crafts!
• Interactive Awareness Session: Participate in an engaging session with students to learn about the environmental impact of cigarette waste on marine life.
• Transform Waste into Art: Turn discarded cigarette butts into unique artworks, proving that even waste can be repurposed into something meaningful!
• Greening Activity: Help plant trees with students with disabilities and volunteers to contribute to a greener Aqaba.

 

Day 2: 10th October 2024
• 9R’s Circular Economy Project Inauguration: Learn about Aqaba’s journey toward a circular economy with presentations and expert discussions.
• Panel Discussions: Explore opportunities to enhance sustainability in Aqaba with thought leaders from various industries.
• Closing Ceremony & Lunch: Celebrate the achievements and reflect on the way forward.
