The EU Delegation to Israel, together with ISERD – the Israeli Director of European R D- and the Israel Innovation Authority, celebrated scientific cooperation under the Horizon 2020 programme. Grants totalling over € 742 million have been awarded to 1062 Israeli projects from the beginning of the programme until the end of 2018.
The award ceremony was held on Tuesday 4 June at the Peres Center for Research and Innovation in Jaffa. Awards were presented to the 423 Israeli companies and researchers that won Horizon 2020 grants in 2018.
The Horizon 2020 programme is the largest research and innovation programme in the world, amounting to approximately € 80 billion for 7 years, and until now has awarded 24,000 grants with some 115,000 participants.
International cooperation in research and innovation is strategic priority for the EU. It allows for tackling global societal challenges more effectively, creates business opportunities and makes science diplomacy a driving force in the external policy of Europe.
